 BRNW Privacy Policy

Welcome to https://www.brnw.org (the “Site”). Bicycle Rides Northwest values your participation and support and is committed to protecting your privacy. We maintain strict donor information privacy policies and take great care to ensure that unauthorized persons do not access or compromise your information. This statement governs our privacy policies with respect to those users of the Site (“Visitors”), those who purchase products or services from this site (“Buyers”), those who sign up for our email list (“Customers”), and those who register for our bicycle tours (“Members”). Bicycle Rides Northwest, Inc., is a 501c7 nonprofit organization, defined as a “social club”; when you sign up for one of our events you become a Member.

 

Personally Identifiable Information

“Personally Identifiable Information” refers to any information that identifies or can be used to identify, contact, or locate the person to whom such information pertains, including, but not limited to, name, address, phone number and email address. Personally Identifiable Information does not include information that is collected anonymously (that is, without identification of the individual user) or demographic information not connected to an identified individual.

 

What Personally Identifiable Information is collected?

We do not collect any Personally Identifiable Information when you merely visit our Site. When you sign up for our email list you become a Customer. When Buyers purchase gear or services on the site, their name, address, email and phone number are collected with the order.  Financial transaction information is processed by our payment processor and BRNW does not retain any payment information other than the type of payment (e.g. a VISA card or similar) and the last few digits of the payment method number and expiration, where applicable. We collect the following Personally Identifiable Information from our Customers: names and email addresses. When you register for an event, you become a Member. We collect the following Personally Identifiable Information from our Members: names, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses and emergency contacts.

 

How does the Site use Personally Identifiable Information?

We use Personally Identifiable Information to communicate with our Customers and Members. We email Customers with updates on events and other information related to our organization. We contact Members with specific information on the events they have registered for, as well as other information about our organization’s activities. We may also use Personally Identifiable Information to contact Customers and Members in response to specific inquiries, or to provide requested information.

 

What organizations are collecting Personally Identifiable Information?

In addition to our direct collection of information, our third-party service vendors (such as our event registration vendor, or our wellness vendors), may collect this information from our Members. We do not control how these third parties use such information, but we do ask them to disclose how they use personal information provided to them from Members. They do not share or sell Personally Identifiable Information to other parties.

 

How do we share your information?

We do not share or sell Personally Identifiable Information to any outside commercial party. We offer the opportunity to “opt out” of receiving information or being contacted by us.

We offer Members basic information on the other Members attending the same event, including names, phone numbers and email addresses, so that they can communicate with each other if desired. This information is only shared with other Members for the specific event. Members must opt-in during event registration for their information to be shared in this way.

 

How is Personally Identifiable Information stored?

Personally Identifiable Information collected by Bicycle Rides Northwest is securely stored in an Access database, and is not accessible to third parties or anyone other than direct employees and board members of Bicycle Rides Northwest, other than the opt-in Member information for specific events as referenced above.

 

What choices are available to Visitors, Buyers, Customers and Members regarding collection, use and distribution of the information?

No Personally Identifiable Information is collected from Visitors. Buyers, by purchasing a product or service, consent to Bicycle Rides Northwest using their Personally Identifiable Information to contact them about the purchase and/or to ship an item to them. Customers are those who have opted to be contacted by Bicycle Rides Northwest to receive offers, information, or news related to Bicycle Rides Northwest via email. Members, by registering for an event, consent to being contacted by Bicycle Rides Northwest, but can opt to not have any of their Personally Identifiable Information disclosed to other Members.

 

Cookies

A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a Visitor’s computer, and that the Visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the Visitor returns.

 

Are cookies used on the Site?

Our Site is built in WordPress. WordPress sites use two basic types of cookies – one to track admin logins, and one to track comments left on the Site. Other cookies may be added through plugins used to build the Site. Aside from this, our site does not generate cookies.

 

How does Bicycle Rides Northwest keep Personally Identifiable Information secure?

The Personally Identifiable Information of our Customers and Members is kept in an Access database that is only accessible to a limited number of employees and board members who are given a password to gain access to the information. Sensitive information, such as credit card numbers, is not collected through our Site. While we take commercially reasonable measures to maintain a secure Site and database, electronic communications and databases are subject to errors, tampering, and break-ins, and we cannot guarantee or warrant that such events will not take place, and we will not be liable to Visitors, Customers or Members for any such occurrences. 

 

What happens if the Privacy Policy changes?

We will inform our Visitors, Customers and Members of material changes to our Privacy Policy by posting such changes on the Site, or via email.
