BRNW SMALL-GROUP TOURS

When we couldn’t do any big tours in 2021 because of Covid, we offered customized small-group tours – and it was a blast! The concept is simple: We already have the route knowledge, the guiding experience and all the equipment we need, so we can do a tour anywhere we can drive to.

Our custom-configured trailer fits up to 12 bikes plus baggage and supplies, and we rent a passenger van. This gives us the flexibility to transport all the riders and gear anywhere at any time, so we can adjust routes based on weather, drive to routes from a central hub, go to restaurants or local attractions together… it’s the best of a vacation and a bike tour, combined.

Quick Tour Details

Pricing: The price shown is an informed estimate, based on 10 riders staying double-occupancy in mid-price hotel/motel rooms. Other lodging options are available, and the price could change based on the number of riders or the lodging choices. We’ll provide you with a set final price before you commit and pay a deposit to hold your spot.

What’s Included: These are all-inclusive trips; we provide full food and beverages each day, lodging, transportation, guides, GPS route files, baggage service and more.

Daily Routes: We’ll present route choices for the group to select from. We’ll also ask each person their general riding pace; we try to avoid mixing very fast and very slow riders in the same group. The general baseline for a route is 50-70 miles per day, with up to several thousand feet of climbing. We’ll leave room for longer/steeper routes or options if riders want them, and riders can SAG at any time.

Support: One guide will ride with the group each day, while the other drives the support vehicle. You’ll have printed route maps and turn-by-turns, as well as RWGPS files for downloading to your phone or GPS device. The support vehicle will stay with the group all day, to provide rides if needed as well as mechanical assistance. There will be rest stops each day with a buffet of food and drinks, plus you’ll have access to clothing, gear, food and drink and more throughout the day.

Customized Food and Beverage: Before the tour, we’ll ask you what your preferences are for sports drinks and other beverages, fruits and vegetables, proteins, and snacks and candy – before, during and after the ride. We’ll shop accordingly, so you have your personal favorites with you on the tour. Meals are typically a light buffet for breakfast, full rest stops during the ride, an after-ride happy hour, and dinner based on the group’s preference (sit-down, takeout or shared meal on-site at lodging).

Custom Group Tours

Plan a custom tour for your group of up to 10 riders. The flexible transportation model means we can set up a hub-and-spoke, a point-to-point or whatever you want, and we can connect routes so you only ride the highlights. Contact us to inquire about a custom tour.

BRNW Europe Tours: 2025

We’re planning an international foray in 2025! Former BRNW Executive Director Sanna Phinney and her husband Chuck now live in France, and they’ve been hosting friends for rides all over the continent. Now they’re thinking about offering small tours to BRNW riders.

They’re planning itineraries in Catalonia and the Pyrenees, working with a local tour operator. The fully supported trips for up to 20 would have up to 13 days of riding, including layover days with optional rides in several cities.

Here’s a description of the Catalonia route, as an example:

Catalonia is a region in the far northeastern corner of Spain situated between the Pyrenees mountains to the north and the Costa Brava beaches to the east. The varied terrain of hills, meadows and forests, combined with rugged coastline and sandy beaches, makes it a fantastic area for cycling. It boasts a unique and interesting culture: the art of Gaudi and Dalí, Catalan culinary specialties, and the sparkling wine cava. We get a taste of it all, plus a bit of France, on this circular route starting and ending in the historic city of Girona. It’s a 15-day tour with 13 riding days, 7 of which are moving to a new location and 6 of which are optional loops. This tour will be supported by Iberocycle.

After two nights in Girona, we move toward the Pyrenees to Olot in the volcanic region of Garrotxa, unique for its extinct volcanic cones. Next we head to Figueres, at the foot of the Pyrenees and home to the Dalí Theater and Museum, with time for an afternoon visit. On Day 6 we cross into France to the Mediterranean coast via the scenic Col de Banyuls for two nights in Collioure, France, once an old fishing village. On Day 8 we cycle south back into Spain, following the coastline to Cadaqués, a whitewashed village sitting on Catalonia’s most easterly outcrop. On Day 9 a loop ride passes Salvador Dalí’s seaside home and through Cap de Creus. On Day 10 we ride along the Costa Brava to Torroella de Montgrí, with its old town walls and 13th century castle. Our next stage is a short ride to Sant Felieu de Guíxols, our last stop along the Mediterranean Sea. Day 13, an optional ride, is a stunning coastal cliff ride to Tossa del Mar and back. Our final day of riding takes us back to Girona.

If you’re interested in joining a BRNW Europe tour, please Email us. It’s not a commitment; we just want to see what the interest level is for this idea.
