WORK BIKE CAMP WALLA WALLA!
Bike Camp Walla Walla 2026 Event Crew
Bicycle Rides Northwest (BRNW) is a nonprofit organization that operates bicycle tours, and we're partnering with Whitman College and Visit Walla Walla to run Bike Camp Walla Walla. We’ve been doing tours since 1987, and have a reputation for the best customer service in the business - which comes down to our fantastic crew. Our crew members work very hard, while enjoying the camaraderie of a shared team adventure – serving our riders while having as much fun as possible doing it.
For the new Bike Camp Walla Walla event, we're looking for a team of volunteers to help us put on a first-class tour.
Some of our crew teams support the riders on the course, while others focus on things in camp. On the road, it’s about keeping the riders safe, fed and having fun. In camp, it's more about creating a welcoming atmosphere for both riders and non-riders.
Bike Camp Walla Walla is a new event, and a new format, for us. So we're looking for crew volunteers who can help us make this first iteration great from the start, and also help with the inevitable learning curve. We're looking for people who truly enjoy helping others enjoy - our crew is the lifeblood of the event. And we also seek people who support the cause this event supports: the Whitman Sinaata Scholarship for tribal students.
And as a special opportunity for our Bike Camp Walla Walla crew team, anyone who works multiple days on the 2026 Walla Walla tour can get 50% off registration for a 2027 BRNW week-long tour. Work now, play later! More details to come.

This is the center of activity in camp. Information, snacks, lost and found, etc., are available here. The riders congregate in the Camp Central area to visit and relax. Team members must be proactive, good with people and committed to creating a fun, relaxing experience for the riders. This team will be led by Sarah Coyle, an experienced BRNW Camp Central Director. There is physical labor involved setting up and taking down equipment. This team will work Sunday through Friday.
Infrastructure – BCWW Infrastructure Job Desc
This team sets up and takes down camp infrastructure: rental tents, popups, tables and chairs, etc. This team will primarily be active on Day 0 (Sunday) and Day 6 (Saturday), doing set-up and take-down. This is a moderately physical job.
Rest Stops – BCWW Rest Stop Crew Job Desc
BRNW is renowned for our excellent rest stop experience and atmosphere. We offer great snacks, specialty foods prepared on-site, refreshing beverages (and pickle shots!), music, chairs and a friendly crew. This is a very service-oriented job for outgoing people. We'll have three people on each of our two rest stop teams, and both teams will be led by Joe Szerwo, an experienced BRNW Rest Stop Director. This group works closely together to deliver a great experience for the riders. The two teams head out early to set up on the route, and each team needs one person capable of driving a large box truck with a toilet trailer attached. In addition, workers on this team will need to have food handler's cards and be First Aid/CPR certified; we'll help arrange and pay for this. This group will work Monday through Friday.
Routes – BCWW Route Crew Job Desc
This team includes one person responsible for marking each day’s route with chalk, cones and signage to ensure a clear and safe route for the riders. Another is assigned to pick up the route gear after the last rider is safely through each section or route stop. This position requires lots of driving/stopping, and the route marker goes out early in the morning. This team will work Sunday through Friday.
SAG (Support And Gear) –BCWW SAG Crew Job Desc
These road saviors monitor and support the riders on the route. We'll have four SAG vehicles on the road, led by Stefan Blumer, an experienced BRNW SAG Director. The team covers the riders in groups through the day, always ready to provide mechanical, first aid or other assistance. You must have a clean driving record and be able to drive safely all day, and communicate with the other SAG drivers and teams professionally to ensure a safe result for all riders. We also need at least one person in each SAG vehicle to be First Aid/CPR certified; we'll help arrange and pay for this as needed. The SAG team works a long day, and the job requires you to deal with riders in some challenging moments – a calm personality is a must. Riders are deeply appreciative of SAG support. This team will work Sunday through Friday.
Sustainability – BCWW Sustainability Job Desc
Our Sustainability manager works with Whitman and Bon Appetit food service to reduce our waste footprint. This can include arranging food rescue to distribute uneaten meals, gathering and disposing of food compost and recycling, and dealing with the garbage the event produces. At its heart, this position is about looking for every way we can be better stewards of the places we ride through. This position will work Sunday through Saturday.
Event Check-In – BCWW Event Check-In Job Desc
Day 0 (Sunday) will be the busiest day of the event, as riders arrive, park, and check in for their gifts, pre-purchased gear, room or tent assignments, meal plans and more. We'll need a group of enthusiastic, detail-oriented and patient people to keep everything moving and everyone smiling. This will be a one-day assignment - although you can do this job as well as another one on riding days if you want.
