BRNW Oregon 2026

“Ride a Different Road”

June 20-27

Most riders have a love-hate relationship with the Oregon Coast: It’s fantastically beautiful, but riding the length of Highway 101 is a deterrent for many. So what if you could ride at the coast, seeing some spectacular beaches, rock formations, bays and coastal cities – but spend almost all your riding time on quiet back roads? Sounds like a little bit of heaven.

And what if we used the same approach to add more riding in the southern section of Wine Country, and two trips through the Coast Range? Now you’ve got a whole bunch of new roads to explore, and a new take on classic Oregon destinations.

In the Willamette Valley we’ll pedal past rolling vineyards and into two charming college towns. And we’ll snake through the coastal mountains on two idyllic roads that traverse valleys and carve through forests, passing a gorgeous waterfall you’ve probably never seen. Then we’ll wind our way up coastal backroads, emerging into towns to cross bridges and soak in the views. We’ll lay over in pastoral Cloverdale, with a stellar ride out to the beachfront hamlet of Oceanside. Then it’s back over the Coast Range on isolated forest roads, dropping back down into the Willamette Valley to finish off the trip.

Come join us as we all ride some different roads!

Rider Feedback:

“BRNW was like a small, welcoming community of riders that paused their life long enough to see the country, challenge their boundaries and bodies, and encouraged camp neighbors to meet the next climb.”

OREGON 2026 DAILY ROUTES

Day 0 – Saturday, June 20: Check-in, Corvallis
Site: Benton County Fairgrounds

Ride a Different Road starts with a different town – we’ve never stayed in Corvallis. And they’ve got a lovely, expansive fairgrounds, where everyone will gather to check in from 2-6 p.m. The afternoon will be a relaxed chance to catch up with friends among the riders and crew, and then we’ll have dinner together and go over the info you need to have a great week.

NOTE: Don't freak out over the elevation profiles below - look at the scale on the left side to see what the increments are. Some things that look huge are actually only a couple hundred feet. Yes, there are climbs, but not as nasty as it looks. Days 1 and 6 have the most substantial ascents.

Day 1 – Sunday, June 21: Corvallis to Alsea – 58 miles, 3,070 feet
RWGPS Route Link
Site: Alsea School

There’s a fairly straight shot between Corvallis and Alsea on the highway, but that’s not what this ride is about. Instead, you'll start your week bisecting the Oregon State campus, then exploring the leafy downtown via bike paths. After a transition to rolling Christmas-tree farm landscape to the south, you'll fuel up at a rest stop in Monroe. Then it's time to head into the coastal forest for one of the highlight sections of the week: a narrow, twisty forest road that leads up to spectacular Alsea Falls.

Day 2 – Monday, June 22: Alsea to Waldport – 47 miles, 2,210 feet (long option available)
RWGPS Route Link
Site: Waldport Schools

Today is a tale of two segments. The morning is more of the best of Day 1: a little-used road through Lobster Valley (have you even heard of it?) that’s bucolic and relaxed. Then you’ll emerge back into the real world for a ride down to Waldport. Masochists will have a chance to add on some miles with an isolated out-and-back outside Waldport, or you can call it a day, set up camp and maybe head down to the beach.

Day 3 – Tuesday, June 23:
Waldport to Lincoln City– 67 miles, 3,090 feet

Site: Taft 7-12 School

Today is the first taste of the coastal roads that rarely get used. After your first bay-bridge crossing of the week, you’ll veer off onto quiet Beaver Creek Road for some chill time. After that, an oceanside stretch of 101 leads to a nearly secret paved path to the beach, in the shadows of the Yaquina Bay Bridge. Enjoy sea views at a rest stop on Yaquina Head, then pedal through the bayfront district and follow the bay shore to Toledo. Later you'll pedal the stunning Otter Crest Loop, choosing which viewpoints to stop at, before spinning into Lincoln City.

Day 4 – Wednesday, June 24: Lincoln City to Cloverdale – 50 miles, 2,810 feet
RWGPS Route Link
Site: Nestucca K-8

Begin a glorious morning pedaling the contours of Devil's Lake, before a 10-mile sojourn through primitive forest on Slab Creek Road. Emerge for still more ocean views, then turn off again to delve deeply into additional coastal valleys and waterways on quiet roads. After navigating the bustling metropolis of Hebo, it's a quick shot to our camp at the school.

Day 5 – Thursday, June 25: Layover, Oceanside and Back – 54 miles, 3,660 feet
RWGPS Route Link
Site: Nestucca K-8

The Three Capes Scenic Route was long one of the standout segments of the Oregon Coast – until it was closed at one end due to a landslide. These days it’s much less traveled, and still a spectacular ride. Take on the challenging climb of Cape Lookout from both directions, and enjoy some beach time in Oceanside – maybe the tunnel to the secret beach will be accessible!

Day 6 – Friday, June 26: Cloverdale to Sheridan – 43 miles, 3,000 feet
RWGPS Route Link
Site: Sheridan City Park

A day that sums up our weekly theme perfectly: Few people know that the road between Beaver and the Willamette Valley even exists, but we’re going to enjoy the heck out of it. You’ll feel a hundred miles from nowhere as you ascend from the coast - first gently, then with some stout stretches. Reward yourself with a thrill-ride drop back down into the valley on quiet and sometimes wild roads. Get your Zen on as we leave the coast behind.

Day 7 – Saturday, June 27: Sheridan to Corvallis, 60 miles, 2,460 feet
RWGPS Route Link
Site: Benton County Fairgrounds

Here’s a reminder of the bounty of the Willamette Valley. You’ll pedal past grain fields, vineyards and pastures as we zigzag our way down the valley, passing through vestiges of historic small towns as well as thriving modern cities including Dallas and Monmouth, where you’ll ride through the campus of Western Oregon University. Finish by skirting around Corvallis and gliding on into the fairgrounds.
